Jay's Malkavian sire, Leopold shows an exuberance when posed with games of chance and risk. He asserted openly that he embraced Jay solely so that his childe could play more elaborate, challenging games and insists that what Jay lost pales in comparison to the opportunity he has gained. Leopold was recently welcomed into the fold as a member of the Camarilla, though Jackie appeared surprised by this change in loyalty.
After reaching out to Jay, the entire coterie agreed to sit down with him and a mystery guest, revealed to be Matt Jones, who Leopold stated he met at a cocktail party and has been seeing for a few weeks. Jay became unsteady at Matt's presence and Leopold expressed his disappointment that Jay had rejected his offer. Matt stated that he is staying in one of Leopold's apartments in Manhattan, and is well, at his same number. Jay insinuated they should catch up some time, and Matt agreed. Cautioning Jay about who he kept company with, Leopold made eye contact with Rain shortly before the Gangrel began acting erratically, ripping his clothes off and running out of the restaurant. Blake returned to speak with Leopold, insinuating that the Masquerade was a concern across sects, to which the Malkavian agreed. The pair exchanged numbers in order to "keep in touch."

Following the car ride up to Watervliet, Jay managed to learn that Markus and Jay were among the members of Carpe Noctem who had discovered the treachery of former Prince Hellene Panhard and Baron Callaghan. While the coterie led others to the Prince and Baron's secret meeting, Markus asserts that he and Leopold had no hand in staking the pair and leaving them for the sun.
