Personal history
Ever since Balance was a young child, he always wanted to make his parents proud. He was born as Kilzire to a family of harsh tieflings. He was too young to understand the horrible things his parents were doing at the time, and often joined them. His parents worshiped Kanchelsis, the god of deity of blood, debauchery, magic, and vampirism. His symbol is a bat with glowing red eyes. The head of their cult was an old tiefling who claimed to have received his blessing to start the cult. Balance’s parents trusted the elder, but Bal always doubted him. As he grew older, he began to see cracks in his story and grew less devoted to the worship. He also realized the things he was doing in honor of their “god” were horrible and evil. Soon after he turned 17, he snuck out during the night and ran away from his family. He studied what he could on different fighting techniques through any old books he could find in the nearby city and by watching other soldiers. He tended to keep to himself and tried resisting his urge to feed as much as possible. He was often unsuccessful in resisting the urge, and one day he realized that he needed to do more to make amends for all of the terrible things he did for his family, and for the terrible things he continues to do in order to survive. This led him to continue to fight for the greater good. Recently, he has heard legends and nightmares of the mysterious vampire Strahd. What others think is just myth and legend, however, he knows to be real. He has shifted his focus to figuring out who the mysterious Strahd was and ending his reign of terror, and starts with finding Barovia.
Balance is slow to trust people of positions of power within religion. He is quick to be suspicious of religious leaders. This judgment does not extend to their followers, as he feels a great amount of sympathy for those who are being manipulated by their beliefs.
He will do anything he can for the greater good.
It is our job to perform good deeds for all people, despite their beliefs. He does this by traveling to different places and trying to help those affected by evil vampires
Education
Trained themselves as a fighter by reading whatever old books they could find and watched other fighters and warriors to train
Employment
They have floated around the land helping as many people as they can, doing odd jobs and hunting to survive.
Accomplishments & Achievements
They severely damaged their cult after they left, by either directing or indirectly harming them. They also insured that any time they wanted to do the ritual that turned Balance into a dhampir again, they failed with severe consequences. By this time, every member of the cult is dead, either by violence or age
Failures & Embarrassments
They contributed to the evil deeds and rituals of the cult for all of their childhood before running away. They realized what they were doing after they indirectly led to the death of a nearby village and a friend. At the age of 16, they snuck into a nearby village to meet other people, since they lived an extremely sheltered life with their family. There they were faced with mostly suspicion and wary stares from the townspeople, until they met a young human child that was the first to show them kindness outside their race. The child showed them around the village, and they spent the day playing and making flowerchains. Once they snuck back into their home, they tried to hide the flowerchains and small trinket that the child had given them, but the elder found them and forced them to tell the cult where the village was, and all the information they knew about them. The cult used this site to do their next grand ritual, which required many sacrifices. Balance was distracted by something else, and had no idea the ritual was happening. Balance only learned what happened to the village when they tried to sneak back there the next night and saw the brutal aftermath. They still carry the trinket the child gave them with them in memory of what they see as their greatest failure.
Mental Trauma
Their family was a deadly cult that worshipped Kanchelsis, the god of deity of blood, debauchery, magic, and vampirism. They did many evil things for their family and their deity, before they realized that what they were doing was wrong.
Intellectual Characteristics
They are not very book smart, but are pretty street smart.
Morality & Philosophy
They feel tremendous sympathy for all who suffer. While they are distrustful of most figures of authority in religions and organizations, they feel a great sympathy for their followers. They know how easy it can be to be tricked into doing things that aren't right by those so called "leaders." They also believe their curse should be used to help as many people as they can, but they would cure themselves in a heartbeat if they had the option.

Social
Religious Views
They are essentially the d&d version of agnostic. They believe most of what others see as gods are just very powerful, seemingly immortal beings beyond people's comprehension. They believe there is an overarching power within the world similar to a god, but their beliefs would align more closely with that of druids, rather than traditional religion.
Social Aptitude
They can carry conversations with seemingly anyone, but tend to not want to get too close to anyone, because they expect it will put them in danger of being fed on in dire circumstances, or they know they will and have outlived many friends.
Mannerisms
They like to wake up very early, so they have an opportunity to feed if necessary or to escape potential detection by those they fed upon in the past.
Hobbies & Pets
They picked up herbalism from a village of druids they lived with for a long time in the past.
Speech
Because of their time spent with a druidic village, they know a few phrases or words in Druidic.
