Faustus Blackwood is the head of the once noble Blackwood family of Nunas. Since it came to light that the Blackwoods were the perpetrators behind the attempted assassination of Viabuedon's Erein, the family has been disavowed and most of its members imprisoned.
After the attempted assassination, Faustus Blackwood was caught and imprisoned by the Caed Dhu in their hidden bunker. However, Faustus escaped under mysterious circumstances. Reports from the guards on duty describe that "time slowed to a halt. I couldn't move or speak or even breath, but I could see the prisoner stand up from his chair, calmly removing his cuffs. A dark purple portal opened behind him and he fell through, then everything snapped back to normal and I fell unconscious."
Though the adventuring party was contracted by the Caed Dhu to hunt down Faustus Blackwood and his remaining free associates, the party was approached by one such agent and attempted to convince them to change sides. The agent offered reasoning and evidence that the Caed Dhu was not entirely in the right, and told the party of the history of Viabuedon's monarchy, planting seeds of doubt in their minds. The agent offered the party the chance to uncover the truth hidden in the sunken city of Darvis Kur, Viabuedon's old capital.
