Personal history
Early Life
Amelia was born to Arabella and Geldrin Vinethread in 9026, shortly before their tragic deaths. Much of Amelia's earliest years are unknown, but her earliest memories are from within the first orphanages she lived in. Living under the watch of overworked and at times cruel Headmistresses, Amelia grew up wanting nothing more than to be adopted and to live with a family. The last orphanage Amelia lived in was owned by a sweet older family, known by the children there to be Nana and Poppop Garnett. They encourgaged the children of the orphanage to lean into their strengths and seek work in the city of Reamsebury in order to help support each other and themselves. Nana Garnett made a point of teaching all of the children of the orphanage how to read in order to further their chances of survival, and Poppop Garnett taught any child interested in learning how to work with their hands. At age 10, Amelia went to a local winery owned by the Baudet family in hopes of receiving some small stipend and a chance to learn skills that would support her in the future. Instead, she was offered a place to live, a steady job, and a reasonable pay. And most of all, she received her first real friend--Halle Baudet.
Baudet Winery
Amelia returned to the orphanage to inform the Garnett's about her impending move, where she was given a gift to be opened on her 18th birthday and warm farewell. As the only true "parents" Amelia had ever known, she honored them by taking their last name before moving onto the winery property. Once there, Amelia found herself working as hard as possible to prove she belonged. She stomped grapes with the adult workers, she carried barrells of wine and produce around the fields, and pulled the carts to till the fields at beginning of the seasons. And at the end of her hard days, she would follow a familiar routine--Meet with Halle to play in the field when she could, return to the bunkhouse for supper, and rest in order to have her strength for the next day. When Amelia turned 12, the Baudet's purchased a new horse to help with tilling the fields and pulling the carts named Domino. Given their shared roles, Domino and Amelia soon became inseperable. Amelia could often be heard talking with Domino at meals and during work and Domino responding with huffs and neighs. The Baudet's owned Domino, but everyone including them knew who Domino belonged to.
Halle and Amelia
Amelia had never had a true friend at the orphanages. Kids came and went, never to return. Her large stature and gangly form made her a target for would be bullies who never seemed to leave no matter which orphanage she was in. But once Amelia began staying at Baudet Winery, Halle was there and was not going anywhere. Amelia and Halle met when the heads of labor of the Winery, Bilbanok and Deetra, introduced them and had Halle show her around the winery. Halle told her about the Winery, and her family, and her friends, and everything until it got dark and they both went their seperate ways. Any day she could after that, Amelia made a point to look for Halle on breaks and at the end of the day to talk and play and be a part of her new friends life while she could. Amelia continued waiting for the day her new friend would no longer be interested or would move on but that day did not come, and Halle was as much a part of her family as Domino.
Babar and the Fire
In the years after moving to the Winery, Amelia made a point of visiting the Garnett's Orphanage at least once a month to see Nana and Poppop and to help with things around the bunkhouse. As she and the Garnett's got older, she took on more work during her visits in order to give them a chance to rest more. Around her 15th birthday, while Halle was away at College, Amelia went to visit the orphanage only to find a raging inferno roaring where her home once stood. Panicked and uncertain, Amelia went looking for help only to see a massive Loxodon wearing a green suit and a wooden crown carrying 15 children out of the fire on his own. Stunned, Amelia could not help but watch as the Loxodon made a second trip to retrieve 10 more children before the building collapsed. Every child had made it out alive but there was no sign of the Garnett's even amongst the rubble. Wanting to know who the hero was Amelia skiddishly approached him where she learned his name: Babar, the Barbarian. Babar spoke softly and sincerly, reassuring her that everyone would be okay and that he would search as long as he could for the Garnett's. Recognizing the hurt in her eyes, and invited her to watch his upcoming wrestling match at Nardon Vineyard. There she would witness the onesided clobbering of local legend Beesting Jim, and would not ever look back. Babar was her idol and she would do everything in her power to follow in his footsteps.
