Letter to a loved one

by Cathrine De Clair Antebellius

My dearest Adam

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this to you in a small rowing boat as we are crossing the wide expanse of the Felvon reef. The past days have been very thrilling, and I have made many new discoveries, some more pleasant than others. We arrived in Port Dolocha, a vibrant and crowded harbour town late evening two days ago. It is a beautiful town, with bustling streets and crowded with all kinds of people. We decided to stay in one of the town's many taverns, where we met some new friends.

The first one is Baradin, an eclectic dwarf who has decided to worship the gods just for their divinity, not necessarily for what they stand for. I’ve never much cared for the gods but seeing him be so devoted to so many is intriguing and curious. The other is a woman named Arten Lagurdo, hailing from Ishkar. She came here looking for a good fight. Seeing the kind of creatures and people dwell in these strange lands I think she came to the right place. It was a tense introduction, and I feel that we did not make a very good first impression. But luckily our goals aligned and we decided to help each other.

With the help of a map Baradin had on his person, we managed to find the Seabreeze Castle, a half-sunken old ruin out in the Felvon reef. It was inhabited by strange aquatic beasts, and an ancient creature, an Aboleth named Salimex. He tried to cut a deal with us, giving us information about the Union of love, but in exchange one of our numbers would stay with him for an unknown amount of time. We found this deal to be unsatisfactory, and battle ensued. We managed to defeat the beast, staying relatively unscathed throughout the fighting.

Sadly this did mean that no information was gleaned from our trip, and we left empty-handed. Tho, not the most satisfactory conclusion, we still have one more lead, and we will pursue it after returning home. We should be returning sometime in the coming days, and I look forward to once more having you in my arms. While being able to write and communicate almost instantaneously, it doesn't come near to the feel of your touch or the sound of your voice.

Your beloved
Cathrine de clair Antebellius
