Last Call at Nevermind

by Treznak

Topple another rogues guild. Sheesh. Im starting to feel like a traitor. At least Rascovar was a challenge. This guy was a walk in the park. Losses were minimal on our team. He had some good gear, the money was decent. The whole thing was a mindless hack and slash. They had no magic. They did have position, but not experience.

It started out with the leader having us defeat an entourage. They all went down like hookers in a brothel. Then the fool allows us to rest before taking him and his lieutenants on. What an idiot. it was at this point I determined that his ego was bigger then his short sword.

A few darkness spells and position handled them easily. The last lieutenant ran. The only smart one in the group

We headed back to town. The turtle carried the dead, why I dont know. We just met him and he was grossly ineffective. Personally, I don't think the leader we killed was the real leader. Nobody could be a leader and that inept. We got paid and we sold Paragons gear with all the other booty and split his share. Thanks Paragon! You were more profitable in death then life.

Heading back to the inn, I ask for a room facing the water and on the top floor. It is nightly mealtime and rarely does one have an opportunity for a hot meal and ale. I head down to the tavern for hot meat and drink. Leaving all but Nightblade in my room, I set a poison trap on the locker. Can't be too careful.

I get a corner seat, and instruct the server not to let the ale get dry. A hour passes and a drunk is stumbling my way. Watching carefully, he seems just a wee bit to dexterous to be drunk. Looks like I am the mark. I prepare my Misty Step to land me on the other corner table of the bar. A moment later and he is falling my way. POOF, I end up on the other side. He falls into an empty chair. Standing up angrily, he looks around. It appears the fall sobered him up! I laugh, then wag my finger back and forth, then across my neck. He apparently got the message and quickly exits the establishment.

The server returns to my table, confused, looking back at the other table. She goes to refill the ale, and I top my glass with my hand. Looking up at her she is understandably angry. I place 3 silver on the table and stand. I whisper, your friend failed, but it was a nice go at it. I pat her on the rear, and leave.

Upon entering my room, there is a body on the floor, a dart in the neck. Shaking my head I roll the body over. Wow, he was young. Human, 14 at best, Oh well, you live and die in the business. Dragging the body to the window, I wait until early morning. Seeing everyone is in bed, I toss the body into the water. I stand with my hands on the sil and think, I asked for this room in case I needed to exit fast this way. I guess it came in handy anyway.

Gathering my gear, taking note of anything was missing, I set my pitons into the door and window. I lean back and take a big sigh and fall asleep.

Hello Treznak, you have done me well.

Opening my eyes my Patron has decided to touch base with me. I sit quietly. You have cleared way for my agent to take control of the Rogues Guild in this area. Well Done Indeed!

I feel like a traitor.

You will get over it. For now, I have no need of you so you can do as you wish. However, I have decided to grant you additional magics. You are now my Baleful Scion. When you awake, you will know what abilities I have.... hmm hmm ..... Blessed you with. Delicious isn't it?

Time for me to go and for you to Wakey Wakey!

Waking up, I feel completely refreshed, and a bit of a git in my giddy up. Well, finally some time to myself!

Heading downstairs I ask the Bartender, Where is the nearest gnomish brothel...........
