Day 1:
I have decided to start writing this journal as a group of my compatriots have asked me to journey far north with them. the journey will be long and arduous. Thus, i am keeping this as a record, just in case. Day one has concluded, nothing of note yet. My fellows all seem like pleasant people and i am interested to see where this goes.
Day 5:
The ground here is hard and stony. There is almost no wildlife to be seen. I say almost, as today i noticed a particularly odd looking rock. We went up to inspect it, and Dergmann tried to harvest some. This proved to be a bad move as 5 flaming mace like appendages sprouted out of it. We realized with shock, that this was no ordinary rock. It was a snail. It was hostile so we attempted to take it down. Partway through however, 5 floating...creatures erupted from the rock and set about damaging our metal, in particular Wrenn's shield. Meanwhile, the snails shell has displayed intense spell absorption properties. we have decided to take it in the hopes that we can fashion it into some armour. Nothing else of note happened.
Day 5, part 2:
Scratch that last sentence. Tonight, while I was taking watch, I noticed a figure out in the distance. They were sat in the same position as i was, so I decided to stand up. so did they. I called out to them, and they...dissolved into parts and scattered away. Maybe i fell asleep...I'll keep watch again tomorrow, and if i see anything I'll wake the others.
Day 8:
Nothing noteworthy happened. No sign of that thing either. I think I just hallucinated it.
Day 8, part 2:
I DID NOT MAKE IT UP. Tonight I once again saw a figure in the distance. I woke up Wrenn who decided to march out to it. He described it as "a torso that opened up to reveal teeth and unfurled wings". BUT NOW I KNOW ITS REAL. At least, I think it is...Wrenn saw it too, that must mean something right? We have elected to tell the others in the morning, although I'm not sure how I'll sleep.
Day 9:
The others don't believe us. Chalked it up to lack of sleep. But then, Dergmann tripped on a vine...a vine with a human hand. I knew immediately it was that thing again. We carried on, but it was impossible to ignore the sounds of 2....somethings following us. In a stroke of genius, Dergmann imprinted the sound of us talking into a pebble and threw it into the distance. They followed and we snuck up on them. I'll never forget the sight of them. They were nothing more than shells of a corpse. Skin dropped of their skeletal frames. They had no organs, and most disturbingly, they had no eyes. Just dark, empty sockets. I have never feared the dark, but i did as i looked at them. We dispatched them and then continued onwards. I can rest easier now that they are gone.
Day 9, part 2:
I'm going mad. I must be. I couldn't sleep. How could I when every sound i heard was just the sound of those things following me. Stalking me. Waiting for me. I turned over and I saw one, I SWEAR I SAW ONE. Sat there under Wrenn's pillow, staring at me. With those cold, empty sockets. I couldn't let it live, so i...i cast my magic at it. I almost hit Wrenn. I could've killed him. The others have stopped me from keeping watch for a while. Perhaps that's for the best.
Day ??:
I've had enough of this place. I've been burnt, stalked, hunted and then today, i almost died. We began to find that the trees were covered in ash. As we went further, the trees thinned out until eventually, they opened up into a clearing. In the centre of this burning clearing, we found a piece of the meteorite that crashed here. a river flowed around it. The river was filled with corpses. Organless fleshbags, hundreds of them. As we watched in horror, some vampire like creature - a strigoi the others called it - descended on this place, and began to do....something. Bile erupted from its back and the corpses began to animate. Hundreds of those same creatures that stalked us. The strigoi turned to us and grinned before it flew off. The remaining fleshabgs, coagulated into one giant being that erupted from the water and began to attack us. It was a gruesome fight. At one point, it knocked me out of the air and trapped me under a mound of flesh. I panicked and couldn't breathe. Thats the last thing i remember before passing out. The feeling of bones digging into my flesh. When i cam to, the monster lay dead and the others had all survived, barely. Tomorrow we begin the trek home. I do not wish to be here a moment longer.
