The Never-Ending Fight

The town of Barovia has been riddled with undead at every turn, and it feels even more unsafe than the desert did. I was feeling pretty down as we made our way through. After all, I almost died more than a few times, and I was little more than dead weight during many of the fights we had to get through the town.
 
But, it's strange. When we got to the center of town, there was someone there who flipped it all around for me. A lone warrior, fending off undead with nothing but her mace and the power of light. What right did this person have to face off against dozens of zombies, ones with a clear shot at her? Ones that were piling on to kill her?
 
But she persisted, she fought on despite the immeasurable odds against her, all to help save the people living there. I feel like I witnessed a hero of legend then, a character from a story book.
 
To think people with such hearts of gold exist even in this Realm of Dread, it inspires me.
