I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of a monstrous roar. Apperantly a bear had wandered into our campsite and ripped into Trask our night watchman. Perhaps the bear was attracted to the smell of dead bandits or the rations in our packs. In either case the bear appears to have caught Trask completely off guard. Azar, Fenton, Krull and I were able to dispatch the bear, but not before Trask fell. As I bent over him to stabalyze his wounds something remarkable happened. Upon my touching his skin he seemed bathed in a warm light and his condition improved immensely. I don't understand why Aroak chose me or Trask in that particular moment but perhaps our small band of adventurers is destined for something greater.
We finally arrived at the city of Myrkan. Fenton, Azar, and I immediately met with the local authorities to hand over the prisoner and weapons we confiscated from the bandits. The judge took my statement and awarded me the maximum bounty of 25 gold. I asked the judge to take mercy on the bandit and provide him the opportunity to redeem himself. I also asked if the courts could grant Azar a special legal status allowing a member of the monstrous hobgoblin race to have free passage in and around the city of Myrkan. He had acted with honor and valor in the service of the kingdom of Faladrin in defeating the bandits and returning the weapons to the kingdom and I felt he had earned our hospitality. The judge agreed and issued a decree that Azar be given freedom of travel as long as he remained in my presence. This is a serious charge and I will have to discuss with the Azar the import of according himself with honor and obeying all laws while in the kingdom.
