A battle doesn't leave just physical scars

by Æthelwulf Ruby-Eye

We made our ways towards the old herbalists home, that field of nightshade was no joke. It took over Dhok and Kai, i had to save someone as fast as i could and i made my choice. I was going to help Kai, why? She may be stubborn , rash , quick to anger hell any number of reasons. But she needed to be saved why i did it? Well she may be uninitiated to war but she has seen pain. Pain that is different to the suffering i endure everyday but pain none the less. Seeing her on the floor useless, she was no different to the day the man i was died and like me who came from the ash lame and without purpose. There is hell on earth and she has that look in her eye like she has seen it. We all do i can see it clearly. But as stubborn as any of them may be i will always come to save them. I just hope the kid doesn't end up as broken as this old fool and it might not be my place too but ill continue to play a guardian to any of them, soon ill learn the means to express it. If only i had more fucking ink.
