Prayer for Moradin

by Orlando Boom

Moradin of Kraghammer, cast down your tools and listen to one you have discarded.

I have long avoided this confrontation, for I feared it would fall on deaf ears. Like all the other prayers of my people to you.

But Moradin of Kraghammer, I do not pray now for myself, nor for my family, my friends, my people or even those poor ingrates in Kraghammer- I pray here for you!

I pray for you because you have been sculpted into a mockery of your own commandments.

You remain stoic in the face of the catastrophe your people have enacted on mine.
You have been loyal to your own, clan, and family and abandoned us.
You have created a legacy of greed and intolerance- an imperfection that has lasted 400 hundred years for the worse.

And now much like your peers, you have found a way to enter my life.

But I will not give what little faith I have to you, unless I know I'm believin' in someone that believes in me.

The Moradin of Kraghammer, that I know and long feared- I denounce you!

You are warped metal, like I, and together we must be cast through the forge, bent beneath the hammer, and be pressed back to true.

I will not be a pawn in your games, but I will be a tool to help craft a better world.

I will not be the perfect apprentice, nor will you be the perfect tutor.

For we must both learn from our peers, like the Lawbearer we must uphold the spirit of invention, like the Arch Heart we must discover what has been lost. Like the Change Bringer we must be righteous in ensurin' what change we create is for the better.

And we must be true to our own instructions:

I don't ask you to be cold and stoic, I ask for passion as hot of the flames of the forge to face the catastrophes of our makin', and those wrought before us.
I ask you to be loyal to those not in obligation, but to be loyal to yourself, and to those that you have forgotten.
I ask that you create a legacy, one that brings change for the better.

Let this prayer be the blueprint for a new world with an old worship.

Moradin of old.
Moradin of Wittebak.
Moradin of the Workshop of Creation

I have come to this place to find out what kind of man I am, now we will see what kind of god you are!

The work is never done.
