I know those poor Stormbreaker boys had a rough time without me as they were grateful when I rejoined them. It was a shame that I had to leave them for so long, but I had a bit of a financial emergency come up and the only way to pay it off was by collecting a very big bounty. This particular bounty was on one General Adimond Kroskas. This Kroskas fellow was a real nasty piece of work- he was a former General in the Army of Tymanther who was secretly a worshipper of Tiamat and a follower of the Cult of the Dragon. He made his move to try to overthrow the government of that dragonborn nation, but failed and escaped with his life. However, he'd been terrorizing places as far west as the Sword Coast with his friends in the Cult of the Dragon, who gave him his old rank in their own little army. The bounty on him was 8,000 gold courtesy of just about every good faction in Faerun; exactly what I needed to pay off that debt.
I tracked him from Daggerford to Waterdeep, then from the City of Splendors all the way to Amphail, then Triboar, and Longsaddle. It was in that village where General Kroskas made his stand. Of course, he didn't know I was tracking him- but he and his cult mounted an assault on The Ivy Mansion, hoping to take some valuable artifacts he needed to resurrect his beloved dracolich buddies. Fortunately for me, the Harpell wizards as well as a fiery-haired ranger were on site to defend against the attack. They kept his minions occupied and weakened the General enough for me to make my move. I hid in the shadows, helped my own ability to conjure darkness. The General fell back to heal from his wounds and I leapt from hiding with an acrobatic flourish. I knew enough of the black dragonborn's reputation not to humor him with some banter and just plunged my rapier into his equally black heart. He dropped to the ground with a loud crash and I plunged my blade into his throat just to be sure. The Cult of the Dragon didn't last too much longer without their beloved leader and fell to the defenders, while I used the chaos to carry the Generals' body. He was one heavy bastard, especially in his full plate- but I made it to Triboar. Fortunately, the fact that just a slender half-drow like me could kill a hulking dragonborn - even if I had to haul him around in a cart- deterred anyone from getting in my way. It was there that I met my contacts- they were quite pleased that Adimond was finally dead and happily paid me in full.
Of course it was when I paid off the debt that I heard about the Stormbreakers being in a bit of a pickle. I made my way over to them as fast as I could- having to spend the loot I got from General Kroskas' on the teleportation spell. Still, it was worth every penny- I know I owe all of those boys my life and it was the right thing to do. The right thing always takes precedence over comfort and money.
