From Russia ... Interlude

Liliana arrives back to the base from Russia after dealing with her own parent’s safety, and runs quickly to the med bay, forgetting in her haste that it would undoubtedly be faster to fly. She finds Runeforce’s bed and launches herself over to it. "Oh my god... " she says to his prone body in the med bay looking quickly at the dials, gauges, and meters, but having no clue what any of it means other than the heartbeat monitor, which she looks at puzzlingly.
 
Tears roll slowly down her face as she chokes up a bit "You rescued me... you changed my life... now you're here because you were helping me... This... this is my fault..." she stammers through sobbing breaths.
 
She's wordless for a bit, only the sounds of soft crying and the slow beeps from the machine echo off the metallic walls of the med bay. She reaches out softly, touching the glass covering Runeforce, adding "You saved all of us and, in turn, we got to my mum and dad just in time to save them. I don't think the words 'Thank you' are strong enough for how I feel."
 
Liliana summons the Spirits to grab a chair from across the room and it slides smoothly under her just as she sits down onto it. Liliana looks through the glass of the med bay with searching eyes and asks "What did you see in me? Am I supposed to carry on what you were doing? I can try, but adversity is not something I have much experience with...." she trails off to a whisper "The easy life was handed to me"
 
Liliana sits with Runeforce for a while before breaking the silence to ask, "Do you remember the last thing we talked about?" she pauses, wiping her cheeks with her fingers and sighs deeply. "It was Elon. He's the billionaire space pioneer who asked me to marry him." She looks at Runeforce, who has no reaction "Yeah, I feel the same - no words. I don't know why I told you that, but it was charming that you had to ask if you had proposed to me at some point." she lets out half a laugh.
 
Liliana continues to sit with Runeforce until she finally dozes off to sleep, the past 24 hours finally catching up with her.
