Revenge.

by Grilag Battleforge

Year One-Thousand and Five, Day One-Hundred and Fourty-Eight

It has been many long years since the day of my father's murder. For too long, I have been consumed by grief and a burning desire for revenge. But today, that desire has finally been fulfilled.

We defended our hold from the siege of the high elves, who have long sought to claim our land as their own. The battle was fierce, but our determination and anger gave us strength beyond measure. We emerged victorious, and as I stood among the fallen elven warriors, their blood staining my axe and armor, I felt a sense of peace wash over me.

My father's spirit can finally rest, for the one who killed him and countless others of my clan has been brought to justice. But it is not only my father's spirit that I honor with this victory. The memory of all of my clan, who were taken from us too soon, will live on through this act of retribution.

It is said that revenge is a dish best served cold, but I find that it is a dish that should be savored. For it is not the act of revenge itself that brings satisfaction, but the knowledge that justice has been served.

Still, my heart aches with the loss of my kin. And I know that even with this victory, the pain of their loss will never truly leave me. But now, I can move forward with a sense of closure, and honor their memory by living my life to the fullest.

For my father, for my clan, for all of my fallen brothers and sisters, I will make sure that their memory will live on forever, and their death will not be in vain.
