The Russians, jealous of our success, of our great nation
Conspired against us in 1700.
The Traitorous Danes and Poles joined them, they desired to see Sweden's might shaken.
Fear of their foe they should know.
The sounds of war, the haunting bellows.
Denmark has surrendered, and the Poles are broken.
But Russia is as resilient as the ocean.
Russia is a beast, they fear nought sword or shot.
They know no surrender, no matter how much they fought.
Even with tens of thousands dead, they are still taught
To fight on, victory or not.
And as Sweden knows defeat by Tsar Peter's hand
Charles XII must walk back to his homeland.
And of his soldiers, defeated and torn,
It seems a new great power shall be born.
Sweden's loss against the Rus'
Shall change Europe, for better or for worse.
-By Gustavus Armfeldt, presented to Peter the Great as a last dying wish. He was executed for treason against Russia.
