The following oddly specific notes have been scrawled Ned's design book with the title: Potential Uses for the Skysteel Greatsword
Reform the sword into a staff - Twist blade into helix, modify hilt. Embed energy storing gems. Inscribe with glyphs and spell matrices - natural affinity for magic relating to air/storm/flight/cold?. Add filigree along helix that draws energy from flowing air and stores in gems to recharge - requires initial charge to work? Kallis interested in helping.
The staff has 10 -? charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, with a spell save DC of 15 where applicable: Fog Cloud (1 charge, cast at 2nd level for 1 additional charge), Levitate (2 charges), Thunder Step (3 charges), Fly (3 charges, cast at higher levels for 1 additional charge per level), Warding Wind (2 charges), Snilloc's Snowball Swarm (2 charges), Sleet Storm (3 chargers), Ice Storm (4 charges). -can all these fit?
The staff regains charges when Ned uses an action to expend a spell slot to restore 1 charge per level of spell slot. If it has at least 1 charge, it can also regain charges by extracting latent energy from the air, restoring 1d4 charges per day at dawn and 1d4 charges when exposed to a natural light wind or 1d6 charges when exposed to a natural strong wind up to once per hour. - not sure how well this will work
