Kitanya Evermoon's In Depth Lecture on the Moons (a transcript)

*she sits down on the ground just far enough away from the fire that the stars are clear in the sky, setting a dough ball on the ground and four cookies in a line extending from it*
"Okay so like, I know some of you have questions about moons and like, how they give me my magic. So I'm gonna explain it to you! All the astronomers back home said I was the most interesting student they'd ever had." *she beams proudly, then picks up the dough ball*
"so this is like, where we are. Well, this camp is where we are. But the camp is on this ball. Not the dough ball. We wouldnt fit. But the dough ball is like, a mini version of the big ball that we're all on! It like, floats in the air that isnt air but even if youre on the bottom you dont fall off because..." *she trails off, getting a haunted look in her eyes* "I dont know why. Try not to go too far towards the bottom of the sphere, okay? Whichever way that is."
*she shrugs, her eyes brightening as she puts the doughball down and picks up the first cookie*
"now onto the fun stuff! This is the nearest moon. The baby moon, Kitan! Cause like a baby its always up super early and goes to sleep so soon! But it doesnt get any bigger. Its actually the smallest of the moons! Its the one I was named for actually, because like, it wasnt in the sky when I was born, but the other two moons were full. Thats an evermoon by the way, when two moons are full at the same time. Its like, not super uncommon, but its considered a special event. And my parents were like, well, if two out of three moons are in the sky, then this beautiful baby must be the third moon!" *she grins widely* "thats me, by the way. The baby. Like the baby moon! Which also rotates much faster than the others, so like, you can have two full moons in one month! I get to say hi to my sky twin like, twice a month! She's a golden yellow, like my necklace!"
*she drops that cookie and and picks up the next one* "this is the second moon, Metune! She's like the moon dad. She orbits almost two month at a time, not under a month like Kitan, so you never see two full moons from her in one month. She's like, too cool for that. Shes also pink! She's chill and reliable, if you forget what day of the month it is you can get kind of close just by looking at the sky. You might have the wrong month, but probably the right day!" *she nods proudly at her own logic*
*she trades that cookie for the third one* "and this is the third moon, Emmiris! The big blue momma moon. Shes like, super lucky, which makes her new moons super unlucky. You dont wanna make any big new plans during hew new moons. Which can be hard, cause like, her full moons and her new moons can last like, nine days! Thats almost as many fingers as I have." *she holds up ten fingers, then quickly hides them* "oh um, sorry Wynnie."
*she shakes her head and then her whole body for a moment before continuing* "but! Full moons with Emmiris are very lucky, all the best weddings take place during the full moons! If you can schedule it during an evermoon, thats even better, but like, those are harder to come by. Speaking of like, weddings, I'm like, legally able to marry you if you want. To each other, not to me. I mean I guess I could marry someone to me? But that would be very hard to do I think." *she shrugs again*
*she drops the third cookie then picks up the fourth* "this one isnt a moon, just a cookie. Knowledge makes me snacky" *she tosses it in her mouth then speaks as she chews* "So like, thats how magic works!"
