A Gentle Wave Goodbye...

A bustling station: dunes of people brushing past me...no...through me;
their commotion of sound too overwhelming to hear.
 
The distance between: shoulders unmoving as I try and stride...no...press forward;
the pressure unbearable to the point of restraint.
 
A steam whistle: its blast so loud that it gains...no...commands attention;
its scream sends shrills of shock down my spine.
 
An imposing train: Its structure so large that it holds...no...consumes patrons;
its compartments like appendages retaining what it consumes.
 
My moon and stars: Their beautiful eyes scour to find...no...beg attention;
their pent up emotions burst as soon as their gaze meets mine.
 
A blown kiss: An exhalation of two lovers' affection...no...their souls;
fleeing their mortal coils to share in eternal bliss.
 
Reaching hands: with outreaching fingertips longing...no...yearning connection;
And yet, all that can be conveyed is a gentle wave goodbye.
