5. Into the Woods We Go

Being contacted by Ramkin, the Arch-mage of Pavis, we are swiftly debriefed and given horses along with a Pursuit Quest Directive. Sparrow, a Ranger from the Ranger Corps was also seconded to us for our missions in Sylvanik, and we retired Terwin with a mountain of silver coins, despite his causing of only 3 hit points of damage throughout the entire dungeon.
 
It was soon discovered that the local Wheelwrights Guild had had a windfall - several carts were sold all in one day and then driven by suspicious men out of the city after they were loaded from an empty warehouse.
 
Riding hard across the Singing Span - an ever growing bridge across the Pavian River, we caught up with the carts, and dealt with those driving them. We defeated the caltrop throwing, cart driving bandits, a total of nine of them counting the leader, all carrying gems, an incredibly rare commodity at the Devil Ward Corner - an ensorcelled area that effectively protects the Pavis area from any summoned creatures. We secured most of the swords we sent them back to town, and proceeded to track the remaining blades. Sparrow showed his worth taking us through the woods before I accidentally set off a trap destroying a bridge. But succeeded in getting us to a remote jail based in the Forest.
 
Finding the jail area, we started clearing it but walked straight into the Djinn, Jal Karneth, who in a single stroke reduced Marconian to 4 hit points, and almost killed Sparrow. Karneth ordered us to bow, and hand over any and all magical items that we controlled. This Marconian ordered us to do, and the Djinn took the spear and silver longsword from us before shutting the door.
 
Performing a tactical withdrawl we returned to Pavis to rest and recover - planning to go back the next day, once we had been fully rested up.
