A new adventure begins

by Illusionist Kevin

After a month or so I returned to the Guild to find work. Much to my surprise I found Fletcher in the Fort. Turns out Ashe took his place to wed the bride. Really hopes that works out for her, didn't know she could shape shift like that though so that should prove interesting. At least I have an interesting image to think about every so often thanks to that development.

My time away proved quite fruitful though. Spent a great deal of time studying and practicing magic to sharpen my craft. Hopefully it will be enough to keep everyone alive this time around. I visited with Freya while I was in the City which was nice after awhile. She wasn't overly fond of me working with Cybil for any length of time although even she wasn't fond of what happened to her with the mage that sought vengeance upon her. That was a nice wake up call for the both of us I think. After that though we got along well enough. Turns out my letters didn't arrive until just before I came to the City so that's nice. Suppose I'll have to pay more for shipping the mail next time. Did learn a few new spells though while I was gone. Found some great uses for a few of them too. Especially Enlarge and Reduce, that shit is hilarious to use.

Anyways we got a mission from a Soothsayer, I think, that claimed we needed to defeat something she called simply 'the darkness.' Sounds like a promising adventure just hope it doesn't end with someone dying again. Cybil wasn't around to accept the mission though. In fact in her place, and I suppose Yitoshk's as well, were two A'mau brothers. One of them looked like a warrior of decent caliber, carries a great sword and is pretty good with it as well. I believe he said his name was Sparkle Tail, a bit weird but then again I'm probably the so-called 'house broken' A'mau in this situation. His brother though, I think his name is Twinkle Toes, is clearly a mage. A rather brave one at that to be honest. Wields a scimitar in battle while wearing what I think is cloth. Both of them are interesting fellows though. Although I could do with a little less of them constantly complimenting each other. I don't mind a little silliness but hearing them call each other the 'most handsome' or other flavorful words over and over again may get a bit annoying after awhile. At least they have some good humor. They are also very strong followers of Mushaya, in fact he was the other main person they kept talking about. Wanted to know if had met him on the road or on adventure. To my knowledge I have not but I'd like to think he's keeping an eye out for me and my friends. They didn't sound terribly impressed about the story I told them about how I eventually joined the Caravan, they asked if I had been in a ruin and figured that that story would be better than the one where Ashe beat me to the treasure, evidently they didn't think me almost dying to be saved by the Caravan to later learn magic to be all that impressive. Honestly it's not really that impressive but I'd like to think of it as Mushaya giving me a hard kick in the right direction after my ill prepared adventure though that ruin.

As far as I can tell the others took the change from the last mission we were on fairly well. Conrad has sort of assumed the role of leader I think, not sure how long that will last. Olo hasn't changed much however that doesn't surprise me too much. Cade though, apparently his 'dog' disappeared or something while I was gone. Not sure how that happened but he did create a new 'dog' in the form of a mechanical Lion he calls 'Cat,' at least it won't be hard to remember. Still Cade's works are very impressive. I'd like to learn a thing or two from him when we have some time. Perhaps we could create something truly impressive. Perhaps he can help me with my little experiment.

On that note I pray that the Great Mushaya blesses us on our journey. We are traveling to the City of Nisiar to find one who has survived the Crags for guidance to our target. Not a lot to go on but that's what makes for great stories. Also I should be careful with the brothers. Evidently I forgot much of my own people's culture while traveling with the Caravan and at the City. Not that I think I will cause that much trouble I'd much rather not make a fool of myself to fellow A'mau.
