We meet Forgemaster Thrain, who is ripped and very handsome. He gives us a job: he needs dry firewood from the edge of the forest for his fires so he can keep making nails to repair the Aesa Gull.
Glogmealk is the leader, Bernithe is going to join Tolgar's improv act at the commissary tent, and Nero is up to no good as usual.
After gathering some supplies, we head out across the marsh. We camp out on night one and reach the river on the second day. Nero scouts the river for a better fjord but doesn't find anything, so Glogmealh attempts to wade across, but it is too deep. After some discussion, Tolgar swims across and the gang uses the ropes to guide the donkeys across. Once the donkeys are across, we get the carts across, as well, but it takes us the rest of the day.
Two more days of travel bring us to the edge of the forest. Glogmealk and Tolgar start to chop on a dead tree while Nero and Bernithe keep watch. We chop about half the amount of wood we need on the first day. Tolgar has a great night of throat singing around the fire. But that night, Bernithe traps a brown bear. Eventually, we free the bear, but not before it is joined by some bear people of some kind. Our attempts to communicate don't go well because we don't know their language. After some pantomiming, we get across that we mean no harm and they indicate that we are not allowed to kill any living trees, but harvesting dead ones is ok. Tolgar heals the brown bear, and one of the bear people hands him something. One of them is named Barkleaf, then they leave.
The next day, we get the rest of the wood and head back. We need to build some bridges. Thrain gives us some rewards.
