Session 6 - Mystery and Bounty

We arrive into Valentine and see a commotion occurring in the middle of town.
I go in with Keely while the rest of the KKK stay on the outskirts. I hear a woman shouting at the Sheriff saying she "wants him hanged in the middle of town". The Sheriff responded with "he's in prison and the trial will be tomorrow".
The Sheriff pointed me out in the crowd, which in hindsight was likely to happen as the rest of the townsfolk were all dressed simply. He asked me to help with a murder investigation, in return he'd help us in any way he can. I asked about horses and he said he'd be happy to provide them to us.
 
I went back to the group to propose the Sheriff's request. Everyone decides hear him out apart from Elrbrick who stayed on the outskirts of Valentine.
 
Helen Ripley, rich old widow murdered in her house last night. Found at 12pm. Maybe killed just before at 11:30pm. Young man in the jail cells had visited Helen's house. House keeper heard the man talking to Helen at around 10:30pm.
Man in the cell is George Clydesdale. George's wife said George was home at 9:30pm.
George met Helen a few months ago. Had become friends and would drop by once or twice a week to help her out.
 
The house keeper walks in with Helen Ripley's lawyer to read out Helen's will. Helen's belongings and estate have been left for George.
 
Brenda, the House Keeper worked with Helen for 20 or so years. Described George as a "rat".
 
It was Brenda's day off, had been out drinking and stopped by the house where she said she heard George and her talking at 10:30pm.
 
The Sheriff caught up and said a court date has been set for tomorrow for George and that we need to defend him.
 
In the morning we go to court and during the court case we try to prove George's innocent. In a recess, a mysterious woman hands over some documents to us which implicate Yelena, George's wife as setting him up for the murder. The jury finds George innocent but then Yelena says it was all part of the plan to get George off the murder charge which we confirmed when he came out from the back with the judge saying thanks. We decide to enact our own justice and kill both George and Yelena for deceiving and trying to get away with murder.
 
We collect our horses from the Sheriff and then make our way to the Gorgon bounty which we manage to kill and then make our way back to Valentine to collect the 500 gold bounty.
