As might be expected with a Dark Elf, Sorn'ryn favors darker materials and mostly bland styles. Cloaks, hoods, basic designs. Not even her bow is really anything super impressive in terms of looks.
 
She only "dresses up" when there is a need or valid reason.

Personal history

Sorn’ryn Cladd’urden walked the path of an orphan from the first breath, a frail mother unable to recover from fever and a traitor father that had left without knowledge of her conception. One might look upon such a beginning with pity, but the dark elven archer is the first to be grateful for such a life.
 
Early on, she learned the true colors of those around her. Why bother to hide oneself before a child that may as well have been invisible?
 
The Cestry Orphanage had a reputation for renting children out for all sorts of services in exchange for large sums of gold. Human, Wood Elf, High Elf, Threatu…. the sisters that owned the established cared nothing for one’s origin and everything about skillsets. Sorn’ryn had an advantage among the children. As a dark elf, she was never sent to do anything completely unsavory or fatal. Her first friend was not so fortunate. A high elven boy made a pretty keepsake after all.
 
By some stroke of unlikely luck, Sorn’ryn ended up in the service of a baron Matron by the age of thirteen. By performing her duties without fail or complaint, she gained enough favor to be educated properly. Make no mistake, the Matron cared for her only as far as one cares for a sword or cherished weapon. Education, though a gift in Sorn’ryn’s eyes…. was only meant to sharpen the blade. She studied beneath noble tutors and took to archery like a moth to flame. This is where Matron Vys’eir found a hefty return on her ten-year investment.
 
Not only was Sorn’ryn naturally gifted with the bow, but she was also just detached enough not to hesitate when the Matron gave her first assignment. Tired of her husband, the Matron suggested an accident on the upcoming hunting trip.
 
Rumors say the man died to a stray arrow. It was his own fault. What fool wanders the hunting grounds without proper colored scarves?
 
Such became Sorn’ryn’s life. Removing thorns from her lady’s side – until Matron grew tired of maintaining a loose end.
 
Well, at least Vys’eir got to see just how good of a student Sorn’ryn was in the end.
 
Unfortunately, the untimely death of a Demonia Matron caught the attention of both General Sabrae Xiltyn and the Faern Aral stationed within Aden. Landing Sorn’ryn in the military dungeons for the first time in her life, at the age of 27.
 
Unaware of Sabrae’s file on her, Sorn’ryn stuck to her story for three years. At the end of which, she was forced to decide. Execution…. or conscription.
 
Such an unruly sort takes time. The general put her in the hands of capable commanders, and saw the archer broken down to nothing over twenty-six years of grueling reprograming and education. Let none say Sorn’ryn was lacking intelligence by the time she was formally ranked within Aden’s military.
 
Seventy years later, she considers herself one of the best snipers in Eyndara – still removing thorns. Only now, with the backing of the Xiltyn General and the military might of Aden.

Sorn'ryn periodically takes guide jobs in the old merchant tunnels between Aden and Thol Tulon for a bit of extra coin. This has all but stopped since the reclamation.

Mental Trauma

It could be said Sorn’ryn is insensitive to the needs of those around her, and is lacking in a few notable areas of development. Compassion and empathy being the weakest. Whether it was the stereotypical orphan mentality, the detached emotional state required to do her work, or a general dislike of most people – one can easily call Sorn’ryn a cold, self-serving woman.
 
The Reclamation and the damage done by the demonic incursion seems to have rattled a bit of emotion loose, though that mostly seems to be anger.

Intellectual Characteristics

Sorn’ryn is an educated woman. As such, it is not uncommon to find her exploring the pages of exotic books, scrolls, or old tales to pass time between assignments. She seems partial to games of strategy and has been known to play with an elderly dark elf outside of his shack for months at a time – stopping by twice a day during rounds to make a move.

Morality & Philosophy

Considering her actual work, it might be hard to understand Sorn’ryn’s morality. What is labeled cold or detached, she views as a necessary and practical decision. In doing so, she becomes the weapon for her commanders – and can walk away with no regrets or guilt to torment her.
 
Act with wisdom. But act nonetheless. Not every decision will be easy. Nor will it be a clear cut right or wrong. Sorn’ryn acknowledges that sometimes, the hardest road is the only acceptable one. She never expects people to simply agree of course – merely to stand out of her way if they can’t handle what needs to be done.
