Armor (Shield)
Legendary Requires Attunement
Fragment of Woe Dormant
While Fragment of Woe is in its dormant state, you gain a +1 to AC while holding the shield. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC. You also learn the Soul Rush ability.
Soul Rush. As an action, you can move up to 30 feet in a straight line without provoking attacks of opportunity. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of you at any point during this movement must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + choice of your Strength, Dexterity or Constitution modifier), taking 1d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. You can use Soul Rush twice, and you regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Fragment of Woe Awakened
When a character awakens the Fragment of Woe, you gain the following benefits:
The shield's bonus to AC increases to +2.
The damage from your Soul Rush ability increases to 1d8.
When you deal 20 or more necrotic damage from a single use of your Soul Rush, you immediately regain one expended use of Soul Rush.
Fragment of Woe Exalted
When the character exalts the Fragment of Woe, you gain the following benefits:
The shield's bonus to AC increases to +3.
The damage from your Soul Rush ability increases to 2d8.
When a target fails your Soul Rush Wisdom saving throw, in addition to the necrotic damage taken, it becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful to remove the frightened condition or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to this fear effect for the next 24 hours.
