The pariahs of elven kind, Swamp Elves, are those who have embraced Witchcraft or the descendants of those who have. Following the last Witch God active in the world, Vezenar, these elves are primarily found in the swamps and marshes, where witch settlements and most importantly Vezenar's protection are most common. Swamp elves are notorious among those who know them as humble and hospitable, unlike most other elves. Perhaps due to their hospitable nature, Swamp Elf villages are almost always home to other races, regardless of whether or not they follow Vezenar or practice Witchcraft. Races such as Goblins, halflings, humans, shifters, and several others can be found living alongside Swamp Elves.
Swamp Elves are often willowy, with an average height of 6 ft tall, with some of the tallest approaching 7 ft tall. Their skin tone ranges like humans however most lean toward either paler or tan tones. In some cases, some may have a more green-grey skin tone.
Their eyes range from blues and greens to browns and darker grays. The hair color of Swamp Elves tends to take on darker colors like browns and black with some taking on darker shades of green, which is sometimes mistaken for the hair of Wood Elves. Most Swamp Elves grow their hair long and let it either hang free, much like a willow tree or tie it up in loose knots and ponytails. Sometimes they use things found in the swamp like sticks, reeds, or animal bones as ornamentation or pins.
The names of swamp elves tend to be shorter and easier to pronounce but still might have some elven roots to them or sometimes they are named after things in their surroundings. Most swamp elves use the name of the village or the swamp it's located in as a surname or simply go without one as surnames aren't very important to them.
