During the chaos of the Sundering, much of the world's terrain was destroyed or underwent drastic changes. This includes the mountains and underground that the dwarves have long called home. Several of their cities and fortresses were damaged, or worse, monsters, demigods, and Eidals invaded, forcing the dwarves out to use their settlements to hide or defend themselves. These homeless dwarves began to wander, searching for new homes, but they were repeatedly turned away wherever they went. As the years went on, they began to adapt to their nomadic life, turning their clans into caravans. Then, Kereth saw them as mountain dwellers no more, revoking his blessing. In fear and desperation, as more and more of their kind became Forsaken, they turned to Kinn, the god of travelers. The kind god pitied the abandoned dwarves and, recognizing their Wandering Spirit, granted his blessing and protection.
Compared to their Stonedweller Dwarf brethren, a Roadwalker Dwarf appears closely related. They maintain Dwarven traditions and customs and typically organize themselves in clans like caravans. However, centuries of adaptation to traveling the winding roads stretching across the lands has created a distinct subset of Dwarf. Roadwalker Dwarves, whether living as wandering mercantile clans or exiles banished from their homeland, use their natural charms and swift journeying to build their fortune and make a name for themselves.
Road Dwarves are renowned for their appealing demeanors and quickness (for Dwarves, at least).
