Special Abilities

NOTE:

This template can be more or less utilized to represent jaguars, leopards, snow leopards, mountain lions and any other moderate sized hunting cats. Lions and Tigers have their own unique entries for their unique behaviors, size and tactics. So some of these traits will leave out specifics.   Natural Readiness: Leopards are very hard to catch unawares. They attempt a DC 20 Reflex Save if they are in a situation they should be 'surprised'. So long as they succeed, they are not surprised and roll initiative normally.   Naturally Stealthy: Add Wisdom Modifier to Stealth as well as Dexterity (already calculated in its skill roll.)   Armored Hide (2): +2 Natural Armor to Armor Score.   Alert Defense: Gains Wisdom Modifier to AC (already accounted for in its AC)   Climber: +2 on Athletics Checks to Climb, only need to make them to try and climb more than their climb speed in one action.   Scent: 30 feet, +2 to Perception rolls when smell could apply.   Environmental Familiarity (Any One): Adaptable Trait, pick the terrain as needed for the animal your trying to represent. For leopards this would be Grasslands and Warm Forests for example. This creature is naturally very comfortable in (Insert Terrain type here) and never has any challenge with that terrain in its natural form. It cannot suffer any movement penalties from any natural effects of terrain within (Insert Terrain type here), so long as it stays on land.   Gripping Bite: If this beast hits with its bite attack, it can sacrifice its reaction for the round to immediately attempt to Grapple the creature it struck.   Maul: Press Trait Must be against a grappled target the cat currently has in its jaws. The cat gets to make two claw attacks, each do individually count for Multiple attack penalty despite this being only one action, however this penalty only begins to apply after these two claw attacks are made. Can only utilize this action 1/round.   Pounce: Open Trait The creature may stride, moving its full move distance but at the end of the movement they must make an attack against something. If they were hidden from the target when they began taking this action, Ambush damage applies to the attack. May only be utilized 1/round.  

Advancement/Alteration Options

  Jaguar: Movement speed is now also a Swim Speed, gaining Swimmer ability to go with Climber. Gain Heat Adaptation: Reducing the effects of heat based weather effects by 1 step on itself. Chooses Jungles for Environment.   Mountain Lion: Choose Mountains for environment. Apply +2 to Stealth skill. Bite becomes 1d8+3 piercing damage now instead of 1d10. Use these changes and add Cold Adaptation: Reduces the effect of cold based weather effects by 1 step on itself.   Note: Can be an animal companion
