A massive bipedal beast, a twisted hybrid given life and reproduction, what was once a foul mutant now reproduces as readily and strongly as most great beasts. The hooked beak, flat face, plumage upon its arms and head of a great horned owl, with its sharp eyes and ability to turn its head fully around to match. Its hands the vicious mighty clawed talons of a great hunting bird, but its arms the muscled and furred appendages of a cave bear. Its lower legs much the same, this mighty creature near unstoppable, wholly immoveable. A competing predator, one that will hunt any beast, even the likes of the mighty cave bear, and a dangerous pest to any nearby communities in its territory, for it holds no qualms with attacking man, beast, or both. Highly territorial and highly dangerous. | |

Special Abilities | Tough Hide (4): This creature has a +4 Natural Armor Boost as part of its Armor Score. Darkvision: The eyes of an owl, owlbears can see even if there is next to no light, so high functioning is their eyes. Territorial Fury: Owlbears are notoriously territorial of hunting grounds, dens, and kills. If any of those happen to be around and the creature is suddenly surprised by something it may percieve as invasive, a threat, a competitor, or honestly even another food source, it will fly into a fury and launch an all out attack. Fury Damage Dice 1d6 : Owlbears get to add this to all damage rolls they make when in a Fury. Fury: An Owlbear can fly into a bloodthirsty and furious rage and will do so if challenged in its dominance. A bout of Fury lasts 3 rounds, and an Owlbear can go into such a state 2/day. Whilst in a Fury an Owlbear gains the benefit of their Fury Damage Dice to all successful melee attacks, as well as Fast Healing (2). Sturdy: Owlbears are heavy and also have a low center of gravity due to their body structure. They are nearly impossible to trip or knock prone, and any attempts to do so with weapons, combat techniques or otherwise are at a -4. Sharp-Eye: Between their ability to rotate their head near 180 degrees and their owl like eyes, Owlbears have amazingly heightened ocular clarity and sensitivity, and as such their awareness of the world around them is severely heightened. They get +4 to any Perception skill checks where eyesight could reasonably apply. Stubborn Beast: Owlbears share some traits with other creatures one may find in the hills and woodlands of the Suranthi wilderness, and this one is most notable in wild boars. Owlbears add their Wisdom Modifier to Logic and Ego Saves as well as Will Saves. Violent Assault: Owlbears in a Fury are always counted as if they are utilizing this technique, having no real sense of tactics or self preservation. They lower their AC by 2 and gain a +4 to all rolls to attack. Neither of these adjustments are shown on this sheet you would need to apply them manually. Gripping Claws: When it hits with a claw attack it can immediately sacrifice its reaction to attempt to initiate a Grab upon the target, that ignores any stacking Multiple Attack Penalty. Mauler: An Owlbear has +2 to attack and damage rolls against any target it has successfully grabbed. |
