Fortch-unate Survivor
To the southwest lies the Twistenwud, a terrible and unpleasant place ruled by trolls and giants of the Fortch Horde. At a younger age you were in a Fortch attack, but escaped with your life. Perhaps you were part of a caravan headed west along the road, or perhaps you lived on a farm on the edge of the forest when the Fortch hunting party went out. What is important is that you’ve seen these horrible monsters up close brazenly and unabashedly slaughtering and eating humanoids.
Now, you don’t want to allow that to happen to you or your friends again. You’ve taken that darkness and used it to inspire you to learn about your enemies.
Most people don’t realize, but the Fortch favor cooking above all other trades and skills. They are known for their cookbooks, though often the recipes are adapted once found. For the Forth finds humanoids the greatest of delicacies. Your experiences with the Fortch have exposed you to their cooking, and to really understand the Fortch, one must go through their taste. A skilled expert in the Fortch could read as much into a fortchman’s recipe scrolls as one would a journal or confession.

Having faced the horrors of the Twistenwud has shaken you to your core. But you came out from it. Knowing fear has forced you to learn how to handle it. Normally when frightened a character would not be able to approach the source of their fear. This is not so for Survivors. You may move up to ten feet towards the source of your fear in a round, however it costs all of your available movement. You may also grant yourself advantage twice per day on any saving throw against being frightened.
