Acradus

The cites and towns tend to sprawl out along trade routes making the planet seem as if one large city. The sprawl is only broken momentarily between adjacent territories which often designate a narrow no-mans-land between tall heavily defended walls with gates sometimes only hundreds of feet apart. Cities tend to be ruled with a penchant for extreme law and rigor, while rural areas are often wild and un-policed.   There are six major areas:
  • Pentagrawl - a country of loosely affiliated towns
  • Raxias - a lowland country of chaos and lawlessness
  • Clandestrope - The largest city state
  • Warbluff - a country of the Tiefling elite in the foothills of the Cursign mountains
  • Iron Wall - The second largest city state
  • Cursign - a mountainous country ripe with hatred of non-Tiefling
Decades of civil unrest and poverty have left a mark on the infrastructure. Large graveyards, sections of abandoned towns and areas of lawlessness break up urban areas. There are remote areas of dense pristine forest. 50% of the planet is ocean / lakes and the mountains and valleys are very extreme. The atmosphere is thick and ever changing... one hour it can be dark and stormy and in the next beaming in the brilliant sun.   There is a heavily regulated functioning teleportation circle located in Clandestrope .   Acradus Timeline

    Acradus Post-colonization Mutations
    Discovery, Scientific

Shortly after colonization "demonic mutations" claims were occurring in great numbers in the new generations of humans born on Acradus . Suspicion and ire were aimed those who had children with these mutations.

    Mass Shunning of Acradus
    Population Migration / Travel

By new law, the families with mutated children ("Tieflings") were forced out of "pure" societies and shunned. Eventually designated regions on Acradus are established - these encampments grew into make-shift villages and towns.   As the numbers grew conflicts erupted between "pure" and "unpure" settlements.

    Wisespread Civil Unrest
    Revolution

Civil unrest, violence and in some areas all out war is breaking out across Acradus. With each year the mutant or "Tiefling" population is growing as nearly half the births are "Tiefling".    Many "pure" families are attempting to leave but only those wealthy enough to bribe their way aboard vessels can. Most captains and crew don't wish to bring "bad blood" aboard or they know they are will be turned away from ports and worlds who don't want the "curse".

    Tieflings Largly Outlawed
    Cultural event

If there are any "pure" humans left on Acradus they no longer reveal it - it seems to all the whole planet is now "Tiefling".    Many worlds begin to treat Tieflings as outlaws. Acradus finds itself isolated as no vessels will go there. The vast population of Acradus suffers from abject poverty but a wealthy class does emerge. There are numerous uprising by the underprivileged and power changes hands regularly as the left-out fight for any advantage they can get.

    Decreased Hysteria
    Cultural event

Power shifts begin to stabilize which in turn allows for better opportunities and influential wealth. The Acradian power centers are able to normalize relations with other planets - and wealth greases the wheels of renewed trade. Off-Acradus neutral zones are established for the exchange of goods and general commerce. Poverty on Acradus becomes less severe and as a whole Acradians become more "accepting" of non-Tieflings.    There have been no other Tiefling outbreaks on any other planet. Whatever causes humans to become infused with demonics is limited to those conceived on Acradus. Simply travelling to and from Acradus or touching and interacting with a Tielfling does not trigger Tiefling offspring.    The common-man's fears against Tieflings begin to subside but there remain many who are skeptical or prejudiced.

    Acradus Prosperity
    Era beginning/end

The economy of Acradus is bustling and well on its way to recovery. Much of the Hysteria and myths that caused the turmoil has passed. Tolerant societies are revoking laws that outlaw Tieflings and benefiting from trade and commerce.    There are still hot-spots of prejudice and distrust but that is more on a personal or community level as opposed to a national or world stage level.
