Ben ‘Wildfire’ Maddox

Ben worked on his family's ranch near a small town in Surland where he grew up with his friend Virgil. When a lost planet (believed to be Alpha) was discovered, Ben and Virgil were among the colonists "volunteered" to be sent to establish the frontier on this new world.

While on Alpha, Ben and Virgil were ordered to participate in a raid on a rival nation's colony. Finding such an action to be morally reprehensible, Ben and Virgil stole some horses and escaped to warn the target colony, then eventually stowed away on a supply ship returning to Etolar.

Now having returned to his home planet, and believing himself to be wanted for desertion, Ben is left to wander with Virgil and try to right some wrongs along the way.
