Final hunt

The end of a life and the beginning of a new one.   Join me for the final hunt.
With these cryptic words, usually sent through a written note in code, Gurry recruits who are deemed worthy of the title are invited out to their "final hunt".   While the invitation is mostly a joke, new gurries are teased or admired depending on their preparation (and suspicions) for this "final hunt".

Celebration

The new gurry to be celebrated is given a time and location. When they arrive, instead of a "final hunt" they find themselves with an already butchered and skewered animal, mead and tales, and above all, camaraderie.   This celebration is meant to reward them and recognize them for all the perils and hard times they have gone through until reaching this point. Up until this point, new gurries have only ever have contact through their recruiter. Usually, to be tasked with increasingly complicated and life-endangering tasks.   During this ceremony, their existence is made known to all other gurries and the higher echelons of the Shark cult of Vuotnaivi. It is the one time when they are showered in companionship and praise. After the ceremony, life goes back to usual, this time, however, with access and knowledge of the whole network of spies and cutthroats at their back.

Site

The final hunt usually occurs in the wilderness, in an area brimming with game.   A camp is set by the other gurries, who organisers of the celebration.   The gurries and the high echelon cultists then go on a hunt, usually aiming for deer, goats, or boars.   Thus, although the celebration lasts a single day and night for the new gurry, this is usually a two to three-day event for the rest of attendees.
