Blood in WORLD 6410

The blood of World 6410 is a complicated topic due to the many blood types that exist. These blood types have evolved throughout history as the many different ethnicities grew and expanded. As different types of people emerged across the continent different blood types also began to emerge, either mixing with other blood types or becoming a special type all on its own.

There are a few ways to categorize blood, but we'll first start with the basics and then build upon them to more advanced topics.

Blood Color

Blood color is the most universal and simple way to categorize blood. The color of one's blood is a key part of one's design and appearance; it's the color of one's organs, tongue, blush color, etc. Blood color is reflected in one's skin color most of the time but there are a few special instances where this is not the case.

Blood Types

A more complicated way to categorize blood is by it's type. This often refers to the ethnicity of the individual. For example, many Frutians have common ancestors. Let's take those themed around citrus fruit for instance. All citrus came from Citron Fruit, thus all Citron blood is compatible with one another. Think of Citron as a blood type.

Where this gets complicated however is when cross breeding is taken into effect. If you have two parents with different blood types, what type does their child get? It usually takes after the father, but can, on rare occasions, mix together with the mother's and create a unique blood type. These mixed blood types are highly sought after due to their wider range of compatibility for blood transfusions and organ transplants.

To complicate things more, it seems The Candy Virus changes one's blood type as well, making it sweeter than usual. This mixes with one's original blood type and makes it Caramelized. For example, a key lime pie person's blood type would now be Caramelized Citron. After a few generations of Caramelized blood being in a family, there is a chance the original blood type is lost completely, leaving only the Caramel blood type. This is the dominant blood type in The Roripop Kingdom, for obvious reasons.

Blood Assimilation & Transplants

While a relatively new concept in World 6410, blood transfusions and organ transplants have started becoming more widely used. But this would not be possible without a greater understanding of blood types.

Let's say a lime themed person requires a blood transplant. The only donor who's available at the moment is a lemonade themed person. Their blood types would be compatible due to the lemonade person's blood type primarily being Citron.

The funky aspect to this is the blood being transfused into the lime themed person does not match their own blood's color. This has strange effects, such as their tongue and blush temporarily changing color. After a few days, and the blood has assimilated with their own, it returns to normal. The same goes for organs.

As time goes on and as more and more blood types emerge, the more accessible blood is for transfusions. The same can't be said for Candyfolk, however. Because of the Caramelization that happens with their blood, it changes their blood type, essentially limiting it to only be shared with other Candyfolk.

For example, a key lime pie person's blood type would now be Caramelized Citron. This means they wouldn't be able to share blood with others who have the Citron blood type, only those who have Caramelized Citron. Much like a cure for the virus, a way around this limitation is being looked into.
