The Thorny Rose: Celebrating the Quarter Master

During a celebration dedicated to the Quarter Master, the group decides on a name for themselves: The Thorny Rose.
 

A Mysterious Gentleman

As the group converses with the Quarter Master, a mysterious gentleman enters the room, capturing the Quarter Master's attention. The man's majestic appearance, with flowing brown hair, a beard, and a heavy coat, causes the Quarter Master to recognize him as an old friend named Franz.
 

Cryptic Conversations

The Quarter Master and Franz engage in cryptic discussions, referencing Captain Blackwood and hinting that the events of the past might be repeating themselves.
 

The Encounter with Isolde

Franz's past involves a confrontation with a demon named Isolde. As members of the City Watch, Franz, the Quarter Master, and Morpheus embarked on a mission to uncover a cultist group responsible for heinous crimes. Isolde, the mastermind behind it all, escaped during a cave-in caused by their pursuit.
 

Tragedy and Defeat

The cave-in resulted in the loss of lives, including members of the city council and Captain Blackwood's family. Despite their efforts, Isolde regained power from the rift and defeated the trio. The battle cost Morpheus his life, and Franz was lost to another continent, leaving the Quarter Master to believe that both his comrades where dead.
 

Consequences and Banishment

Captain Blackwood banished the Quarter Master to the current outpost due to the decisions made on the day Morpheus died.
 

Making a Plan

Franz tells the group about what happened to the group in the past, and when he's talking about Isolde the group realizes that the creature Avelora just might be Isolde. The group informs Franz about the nefarious activites of cultists in town presently and Franz belives that the past is begining to repeat itself. The group informs Captain Blackwood of their suspicions about Isolde's return, prompting the Quarter Master to prepare for battle.
 

Encounter with Toadmine

While the group and Quarter Master argue about who is to be involved, Elias and Dermish head to Lowtown to find his criminal contact named Toadmine, a scarred individual missing both ears and with branded letters on his forehead. Toadmine wishes to conscript them as muscle in exchange for information about Rosline. Elias and Dermish were in for more than they bargained for.
 

Investigating Rosalin

Toadmine tells Elias that word on the street is that Rosalin is a witch that laces her bread with a mysterious potion that makes people highly suggestable, he suggests the group check out the bakery.
 

Investigating the Bakery

The group learned that Rosalin's husband lives on the top floor of the bakery and is wheelchair bound. They break into the bakery and find a tin of bread that smells intoxicatingly sweet and appears to be magic in nature. They locate a hatch that leads downstairs where they find a cage of Fairies that repeatdly say "Hello", hidden under a barrel.
 

Confronting the Book Club

As Angst is guarding outside three women start to approach. He recognizes them as members of the local book club. They have a key to the bakery and enter stealing an apron with flowers on it out of a basket. As they leave Angst approaches trying to get more intel, and the women say they were there to check on Rosalin's husband and then leave.
 

A Rat in Pursuit

Ash while in rat form follows the three women to a house leaving a trail of druidic symbols as trail markers. They burn the apron destroying a cruicial part of the evidence. Ash sneaks into the book club head quarters overhearing how they are going to poison Quarter Master and Captain Blackwood. They will be having a meeting about it tomorrow at the old haunted abondoned house.
 

Mark's Possession

The group reunites and they head back to the barracks to tell Quarter Master the information they have learned. As they enter, the group discovers Mark tied to a bed, possessed and shouting obscenities in Abyssal. It looks grim for Mark, but Angst sums up all his power to concentrate all the evil out of his arm. To his surprise a goat-like creature emerges from Mark's veins, signaling a dangerous confrontation.
