Harunda, the Sand River

From the Great Desert a constant stream of sand is flowing through the golem domain Varkanesh, known as the Haranda, the Sand River. This river does not contain any form of liquid but still behaves like one.
On a hilly island in the middle of the Harunde, lies the capitol of Varkanesh, the city of Naruba. From Naruba, four bridges, that are living constructs, connect to both sides of the Harunda and make Naruba an important trade city along the coast. It is one of the only possible crossing points of the Harunda.
The river is home of various exotic and dangerous creatures. Most notably is a small fish like creature, that reminds of an one to two feet long dolphin, with shark like rows of teeth. It hunts in small families and does not fear to attack larger prey. There are rumors that they sometimes leave the river to hunt on the riverbank of the Harunda.
A special form of boat like slides is used to travel on the Harunda. Upstream the slides are towed by golems or large beast. Downstreams, they are typically punted or just dragged by the sand.
