Brandish and Fell
Through the ages, the actual twin gods Brandish and Fell have become twisted shells of their former selves, in service of the Church of the Twin Gods. While none remember the exact details of the shatter, or the war of the old gods, the names of Brandish and Fell stuck with a small portion of the wandering people during the Great Migration. A religion rose up around them, and new legends and miracles were attributed to them. Their duality was eventually the lure of the cult, and settlement into what is now the Rivals Monarchy, only cemented the cult's tendrils into its people. Eventually the entire Monarchy was shadow run by the Church, and the Cult of Duality was par for the cultural course of all those who reside within its borders.
The Twin Gods, while named for their forebearers, bear little resemblance to the actual deities. Seen more as amorphous spirits of fire and ice, these dual beings are said to be the balance that keeps the entire world in order. Any one god receiving more praise than the other would serve only to disturb this balance, and thus, duality is demanded at all times by the Church.
