Lizardkin Species in Ávra | World Anvil

Lizardkin

Any number of lesser drake and human hybrids are known as Lizardkin. They tend to have lizard-like heads and scaled bodies with tails. Their ancestors arrived with most other species into The World and explored The Greenlands with all the other ancient races. During the time of The Great Migration, Lizardkin were seen as heroes, as they naturally crave order and were instrumental in helping settle, protect and grow the settlements that eventually founded the cities and countries of the current world. They tend to fall into positions of advisors, directors and planners. Their natural craving for order is quenched by these positions of order. Lizardkin homes are immaculate, and devoid of unneeded clutter. You will rarely find art or items of sentimental value in their homes. They are usually sparsely furnished, with the exact number of furnishings and dishes needed for the family unit residing there. Due to this, when befriending Lizardkin, most interactions will happen outside their homes, due to their incompatible nature to hosting. This is not to say that Lizardkin are not fun loving or unable to be friendly; they simply prefer to keep their personal lives orderly and devoid of distraction and clutter.   Lizardkin are also plain speakers, not hiding their intent when expressing. They tend to favor knowledge over feelings and will state things in a logical manner, regardless of the feelings of their audience. This has led to many a confrontation in history.   Due to their natural roles in helping those in power bring order, Lizardkin actually wield a great amount of power overall in the political and business flow of The World and The People within it. There have been uprisings and riots claiming that The World is secretly run by "Lizard People", as they are derogatorily called by these rioters. These concerns are usually brushed aside by The People in the areas these riots occur.   Of all the Scalelings, the Lizardkin have the most variation in their physical appearances. This is due in part to their own genetic diversity among purebloods, but also their intermingling with all the other species of The World.         § Keen understanding: Lizardkin are naturally able to negotiate.
