Order of Scribes

The Order of Scribes is a sect of wizards with an exceptional devotion to their craft as a practice. Their primary objective is to record as much magical knowledge as possible; this is routinely stored in their headquarters, a massive tower stretching into the sky, a massive library to hold all manner of books, scrolls, parchments, even rubbings, named the Inventarium. To this end, the members become exceptional mages of magnificent skill, often knowing vast varieties of spells in order to obtain their sought-out knowledge no matter what stands in their way.

The tower itself has several librarians, but they're not exactly what you'd expect. Rather than being manned traditionally, the Order has set up several tomes they have brought to life, holding the locational knowledge within them. The Codices, as they're called, are all sentient constructs, designed both to expedite the process of finding the right material, as well as identify the right material itself. They're a complex network, with the Corporea Codex keeping a log of all the other Codices within itself.

Membership of the Order is a highly sought after title, as the Order of Scribes is respected across the entire world for their magical advancements and dedication to both magic as a practice and development of the craft. Members have consisted of all species and nationalities; the Order maintains a stance of neutrality towards all geopolitcal events. Individual members may feel any which way they choose, but the tower is declared a neutral zone to any and all parties, in dedication of the purest truth available and undying devotion to it's mission.
