Whisperers
Whisperers are the most 'realistic' of Artificial men, some even passing as completely human. Their nickname derives from the subtle release of waste energy they will expel sometimes. Whisperers are created by syphoning the Aura energy and soul from a being and injecting it into a mechanical Golem body, creating a magical simulacrum of the former being. Due to being fueled by Aura Soul energy, they accumulate corrupted Aura energy and must 'vent' this accumulation periodically. During this time, their tether to the Firmament can be 'heard' by those nearby and sounds like whispering.
There are two types of Whisperers, those where the empowering soul is in control, and those where the soul simply exists as a power source. In the instance that the empowered soul is controlling the Whisperer, they retain many of the memories and personality quirks of the original being, essentially being an extension of the original being. These are utilized by many of the wealthy in Dunnywild to artificially extend their own lives, although, the resulting simulacrum is distinctly not the original being, but presents as a new being that is essentially 'grown' from the original soul.
The other type of Whisperer is known as a Hollow Whisperer, and the soul utilized simply serves as a power source, and has no control of the resulting Whisperer. It is not fully known if the soul is still 'sentient' or aware of its situation. These whisperers are wholly new beings and have no connection to their original being that gave its life to power the whisperer. Regardless, the Hollows are just as sentient as the other whisperers.
