Ashfire Council of Democracy and Liberty

The Ashfire Council for Democracy and Liberty is a political faction advocating for Ashfire and the surrounding area to succeed from the Faerie Empire, and for a democratic system to be installed in its place. The Council brought forward their 50 year plan to transition Ashfire into a democracy, and attempt to fix some long standing issues within the region, at the latest meetings with the Queen. They were approved by the Governing Council by a narrow margin, and the Queen has acknowledged Ashfire's claim to independence. Talks are still on-going about how to smooth the transition out of the empire, and how that might fit with the Council's other plans.

Structure

The Council is a group of a few hundred people, who all vote on larger issues. At the head of the Council is a smaller circle of leaders. This group includes Kiralda and Cheila, who are both very popular with the people. This group makes decisions on more urgent matters where a vote can not be called, and in breaking ties.

Public Agenda

The plan given to the Queen outlines several goals for Ashfire, all to be achieved in increments to allow for adaptation over the 50 year clean up period. Democracy
The city of Ashfire will instill a democratically based government, with protections in place to prevent one person from taking power The city will pick and supply voting places, which will be distributed based on population density Days on which there is voting will have protected paid time off from work
Workers´ Protections
The city will establish a minimum wage, which will be re-evaluated every year to account for inflation Workplace safety will be evaluated, and new regulations will be written to account for factories Laws against discriminatory workplace treatment and discrimination based firing will be enforced, and the city will provide a legal representative and investigative team to workers who believe they have been discriminated against
Quality of Life
Government supported health care will be provided to all citizens at ordinary hospitals Infrastructure will be evaluated and repaired, upgraded, or replaced as needed Public school will be made available to all children in the city, and compensation will be provided for families who normally couldn't afford to send their kids (Wip, more tba after summer camp lol)
