Katas - The Builder

The oldest of the gods, firstborn to The Primordials. Katas helped his parents harness their incredible powers to create other gods, and then helped those gods fully harness their domains.   After building the Aether, the first roads and ships, the sword and bow, Katas settled into the world as an overarching force guiding the hand of mortals towards creation. Under Katas’ guidance humanity built their cities and farms and all their tools to survive in the harshness of the natural world.   It was soon after the First City was founded that the Divine Twins approached Katas. Temní worshipped devoutly and asked for a gift to give to the humans. Katas responded by granting Temní the ability to create art which he could share with all mortalkind. Kanzu did not respect the creations of Katas and yet wanted tools of his own, so snuck into Katas’ divine workshop one night while the smith was sleeping and stole the ability to create weapons which he shared with all mortalkind.   Both twins greatly enjoyed their new gifts, but when they grew jealous of each other and the war erupted, Katas despaired to see how his weapons were used to destroy his art. When Patír begged for help from the other gods, Katas agreed without question, and was instrumental in raising the twins to godhood to end the war.   Since then, Katas’ creations have consistently shaped the course of human history alongside Lútus’ gifts of creativity and Olsír’s gift of magic, and the Divine Smith holds a spot in the Republic as second only to The Stars.

Divine Portfolio

Katas is primarily the God of Smithing and Crafting, but he also holds domain over Volcanoes and has some sway over Fire, though Talsia remains the primary deity for the latter. In truth, Katas is present in every single act of creation, from forging weapons to giving birth to constructing cities, and far too many more examples to count.

Divine Relationships & Shared Portfolios

Creator Gods

Katas and Patír were the first beings formed by the Primordials, and together they sired the rest of creation - the rivers and valleys, the gods and the mortals. For this, they are occasionally referred to as Father and Mother by the faithful who worship them both in equal measure.

Invention and Creation

Katas has long been Lútus' favoured friend, for invention and creation go hand in hand. The Sky will grant a lucky person incredible visions of some great wonder to build, while Katas grants them the means to do so. On the rare occasion Katas goes too far and builds something that threatens Cosmic order, an argument is followed by destructive thunderbolts erasing the creation, but the two quickly make up and start work on something new.

City Gods

Talsia, Olsír, Katas, Patír, and Temni are the five great city Gods. They are more widly honoured throughout the Republic of Osa in every settlement as patrons of civilisation. Katas in particular is praised as without his power the great cities could not be built in the first place.
