Bison Thieves Caught
Raids on the Bison thieves headquarters marked the end of their tyranny, but not without the losses of numerous bison.
The bison troubles are finally over! After a series of turmoils that caused so much pain and trouble for the Air Nomads and the United Republic, it was the coordinated efforts of both parties that spelt success. Several days prior, simultaneous raids were conducted on bison shipments across the globe, organised by the response unit created at the Air Temple Island conference. By analysing shipment logs contained within the cargo, the team located the base of operations - where another successful raid was carried out last night:
The base was found and shut down permanently in a swift attack by the team. The owners, part of the Yeniu family, were successfully apprehended - and have now been transferred to prison. Several employees were detained too, and those who managed to escape the force have been identified: hopefully they will not present a threat in the future. Lastly, surviving bison were re-united with their friends in a day that marked celebration.
However, the consequences of the bison trade are irreparable and far-reaching. Too many bison were stolen and slaughtered - reduced from living beings into mere meat and fur. Among those was Keeper Amanthi's bison, Nazasa, whose funeral was held shortly after, with the remains buried near the Northern temple. Other nomads also lost their companions and, sadly, several wild bison were taken and killed from the surrounding areas.
More concerning, however, were the motivations behind the attacks. In a statement to the Police, Mr Yeniu had one thing to say: "I don't regret a thing. Too many leaders dismiss us like we're nothing. For far too long, every single one of us at the bottom of society have been ignored, we've been told to take our problems elsewhere and we've been treated like dirt. I am not the first one to see this, and I will not be the last..."
