History
Eons ago, duergar came from an ancient ambitious and powerful clan of dwarves. The most powerful dwarven clan was becoming dismantled and many wanted to rule. When the smaller clans did not succeed in power they decided to separate from the major demographic. Mindflayers attacked the realm enslaving many of the dwarven population. During their captivity the mind flayers performed cruel experiments on the dwarves. The dwarves who survived these experiemnts through the generations became what we now know to be Duergars. Over time the duergar rose up against their captors and gained freedom from the mind flayers.
