Mark II: Dragon Hunter I

The Mark II: Dragon Hunter was the first fully armed Airship to take to the skies of Phrelle. The Aerurus Foundry Workshop's second major airship project would start development in the 7th Sanctus Era. With the Aerurus Empire focusing on the eventual rise of Tiamat, the ability to fight dragons in the sky.   After having made the Mark I: Aerurus Prototype into the more stable Transport Variant, there were some improvements built into the stability of both the AF-T1 turbines and the AF-C1 crystals. The significant changes over the life of the creation process were focused on where to place the wheelhouse to better protect it from attacks.   The Mark II was developed in Old Haven with the Aerurus Empire's territory of Yedria. It required a body of water to both takeoff and land. It was noticeably slower than the Mark I but gained advanced agility to avoid direct attacks.

Power Generation

The Mark II airships focused on upgrading the AF-C1 crystals, which were volatile, as an errant breath weapon could have been catastrophic. The production of the AF-C2 crystals provided a much more stable arcane power source. While this power generation still had its risks of catastrophic failure, the elemental breaths of dragons were less effective upon them.

Propulsion

The propulsion system was also identified to require an overhaul if these Mark II ships would be able to face down a dragon. The AF-T1 turbines of the Mark I: Aerurus Prototype lacked agility and responsiveness. The development of the more responsive AF-T2 turbines sacrificed speed for maneuverability and responsiveness to input.

Weapons & Armament

The Mark II was designed with the Armament capability of a Warship, which was a significant change from the Mark I: Aerurus Prototype. Equipped with six Ballistas and one Dragon Killer, each of these weapons was customized for use aboard the Mark II. Each Ballista had a "gunnery" seat in which a member of the crew is secured to the device to better aim. The Ballista Bolts were attached with iron chains that could attempt to grapple a dragon or bind its wings similar to a bolo.

Sensors

The Aerurus Empire placed a bounty out for Behir when this project was being developed. Paying handsomely for Behir Horn, they would equip each Mark II with one horn to act like a Dragon sensor.
