Kingdom of Nadrac

The High Seat of the Imperium

Never play 'False Kings' whit an elf. Even if you do beat him again and again. For you see, one day your son will come home and tell you he lost everything to the cat-eared bastard!
  • Old Nadracans saying
  • The Kingdom of Nadrac was the first alderian nation to have a elf win the great game. His name was Fedilan medi Eldarim, and as he where proclaimed king of Nadrac a strange wave of elven return to power followed. It seamed that tho the humans won the wars of the Conquest, the Elumian Elves won the peace.   As the heart of Imperium, Nadrac is ruled by from the Imperial Palace and is often overlooked as a kingdom. Instead most only see the Kingdom of Nadrac as the Imperators high seat. Tho this is of coarse true the island nation of Nadrac, or Neadranictan as the elves once called it, is perhaps one of the most powerful of the Imperium.   Even tho it holds little land its islands, and the main island of Anicata in particularly, do holds a great strategic positions. Located at the mouth of the bay of Analatianum, no ships my leave or enter the bay whit out passing the islands of Nadrac. Therefore the navy of this kingdom is the strongest whit in the whole of the Imperium.   Where most nobles learn how to ride horses from early ages here they are taught how to sail. As well as how to fight on open water and lead fleets of battle ships to defend their homeland and the Imperium.

    Structure

The kingdom of Nadrac is a classic alderian feudal nation. Whit the Imperator* of the Imperium at the top of the ladder of power and the commons on the bottom. But like most elven ruled nations of the Imperium, Nadrac has a number of elven customs as well. The best example of this being the Council of Barons.   Where most alderian nations have Royal Councils, whom aid the nations monarch to rule, Nadrac's Council of Barons rule the nation along side their monarch. This system is based on the Elumian elves way of government. In which the nobility and the king rules the nation together. The power of this council depends on if the current Imperator, and his mood.   Only the Imperator may call a meeting of the council and he may place a veto on any proposals or votes. Those the power of the Council of Barons are only as strong as their ability to convince the Imperator. At the council new laws are written or reformed. The council also sits in judgment over disputes between the barons themselves.   Those that carry out the laws set by the Council of Barons are the Imperial Prefects. This keepers of the peace exist all over the Imperium and the title of Prefect are nearly only held by elfs of the highborn houses of their kind.   *The Imperator also holds the title of King of Nardac, a title the elven Imperators seam to favor over the official title of the master of the Imperium.

    Assets

    Tactical Assets

    • The Fleets - The kingdoms greatest asset is it mighty trade and war fleets. And whit it's location in the of Analatianum, nearly all sea trade in the north goes through their major ports.
    • The Order - As the Order, the grand wizard order of the Imperium, has it headquarters in Nadracs capital the nation has a higher number of magic users then most of the civilized world.
    • Location - As it is surrounded by other nations that are a part of the Imperium any attack or revolt here will fail. It is simply to close to to many allies. Which in turn makes the power of Nadrac and the Imperium all the greater.

    Natural resources

    • Fish - Perhaps not it's most glamorous resource. But it is the one resource that Nadrac never seams to have to little of.
    • Stone - The many stone cities and fortresses on the islands are made from stone from quarries on the islands of Anicata and Venatia.
    • Iron - There is but one mine in the whole nation and it is on the main island of Anicata. From there much of the nations steel weapons and tools are made and sold through the nation and beyond.

    History

A Province of the Alderian Empire

The elven empire of Analatethan ruled the islands before the Conquest. The commander and sovereign prince of the time was Fengald medi Eldarim, father of Fedilan. And as the alderians invaded even the might of house Eldarim could not stop them. The prince Fengald was slain in front of his eldest living son.   His slayer was Duke Rengard von Elvagam. Favored sea commander of the alderian emperor. Seeing his father die, the last of hundreds to die in the battle Fedilan medi Eldarim did something only a handful of elven nobles had done before him. He yielded. Going down on one knee before his fathers killed he offered his sword to von Elvagam, and he said:
I most now do what is worst then death. For I most ask you, my own fathers bane to accept my surrender. And hope that you might find a use for my sword.
Duke Rengard von Elvagam, did accept and even came to see the former elven prince as a close friend and ally. The two of them ruled the province of the empire for around 25 years. But the Alderian Empire was doomed to fall nearly as fast as it had risen.

    Independence

So when the Duke proclaimed himself king of Nadrac, Fedilan medi Eldarim supported Rengard. And following him as always where the many other elven houses of Nadrac. Rengard was an old man when he began his rebellion and most of the fighting was done by his son and his close elven friend. On his death bed, during the Nadracan war of Independance he even said:
I have but one thing that I regret! And that is that I caused you, my elven brother, pain. Could I go back I would not have slain you father... Now watch over my son dear friend.
Rengards son Willmast von Elvagam was the first true king of Nadrac. A title he won soon after his fathers death. Fedilan medi Eldarim supported Willmast as he had is father before him. But some where starting to rumble, many disliked that the elven baron had so much power. Some said he was to close to the king. Others started to make secret alliances whit him directly.   When Willmasts son, Harold the sickly, rose to power the elven baron was in the eyes of most the true king of the nation. So when Harold died of fever, whit no clear heir, Fedilan medi Eldarim toke the throne whit little opposition. The reign of house Eldarim had begun.

    Demography and Population

    The whole of the Population

63% of the people are alderians. 20% are orcs or half-orcs. Only 13% are elves and the last 4% are foreign trader from all over the Imperium and beyond.

    The Nobility

49% of the nobles are elves and 24% are orcs or half-orcs. Only 37% of all nobles are human. One should however note that nearly all orcs, ans most half-orcs, do not hold any higher titles or lands.

    Territories

The kingdom consists of five islands spread across the bay of Analatianum. They are: Anicata, Nea'doom, Fealima, Reina and Gran'rac.

    Anicata

Of the five Anicata is the largest and richest in natural resources. Here lies the capital of the nation and the Imperium. It is ruled by the Imperator, but is run by the Duke of Nemara. The island is technical not a duchy, but it is in practice run as if it was. The Duke of Nemara is a close relative to the Imperator and has a very high standing at both the Imperial and royal court of Nadrac.   The island holds most of the nations farmlands, one of its two quarries and its only iron mine. Making it the most populated in the kingdom. It is also the only place in the kingdom where they are still elven commoners.

    Nea'doom

Nea'doom is the island closest to Anicata. It is a barony that holds next to no land. There are only three fishing villages on the island and most of its land is bare rock. At the top of its one hill stands the barons castle, The Old Tower. Its only importance is that as a guard against a sea invasion from the north. Something that has not been a issue for hundreds of years.

    Fealima

The next biggest of the islands. It is a barony that can even boost having a small town on its land. A honor that is only given to a duchy on the mainland. Tho not as rich as Anicata, the island is home to the second Nadrac war fleet as well as the other quarry of the nation. The island is home to many of the kingdoms best sailors and is often called "The Sea-spear of Nadrac".
