Chronon Activity

Exposure to intense chronon radiation, whether naturally or artificially produced, incites chronon activity in living things. Chronon active beings have a particular relationship with the Meyer-Joyce field; they act as source points for the field and can manipulate chronons at will.
Chronon activity increases as time goes on, marked by new abilities. Chronon active characters will eventually develop the Chronon Syndrome, and if left unchecked, the Syndrome will cause them to become paranoid and unhinged as they lose what anchors them to spacetime. As the Syndrome runs its course, affected characters have their chronon activity increase exponentially, and when they finally succumb to the Syndrome, the character becomes a Shifter, a quantum intelligence manifested from the chronon field.
