Mistpeak village.

The nascent nexus of opportunity!

Mistpeak is a nascent trading village on the cost of the Dessarin River. It is located on a mountainside, slightly dug into the mountain itself. The village is an effort to create an new trading hub for the few hamlets and villages which dot the fields away from the Long Road until Amphail.   The village itself has only just been settled, truly. There are the docks, the village's square a few living areas and the mayor's office. Asides that, there's a makeshift barracks and a palisade wall which encompasses the whole of the village. Beyond the village's walls lie vast lands, where in the distance farms, orchards and other rural activities take place.   It is the hope of the settlers that this location may flourish to become a bustling commerce port, considering its location along the river and its shores.

Government

The town is governed by a regent mayor. This one has been appointed by the village's first founding patrons and will be staying in power until protests are held to remove him or to hold a vote to substitute the man.

Defences

The village of Mistpeak does not have much in terms of defenses. A few wooden walls and palisades that have allowed a bit of privacy from the exterior. These walls are interrupted by two gates in opposite ends of the town, one to the North and one to the South. Each of these gates bears incorporated two supporting wooden platforms which serve as a makeshift watch tower.   Asides this, the town benefits from a Barracks which garrisons a few dozen men which have been able to uphold the laws of the town and the peace.

Industry & Trade

Mistpeak albeit recent is a booming hub. It serves as a way for the nearby hamlets to come and sell their goods and trades to the ships flowing along the Dessarin River and making their way towards the sword coast. Although it is not much which they have to sell, it is precious. Ships with heavy and rare metals, silks, spices and other things hailing from the Mithral Halls or Silverymoon find themselves in need of restocking, assisting in the development of the whole area, either through wealth or by providing the materials required in exchange for food, herbs, ales and other basic supplies to continue on their journey.

Infrastructure

The town's infrastructure is fairly recent. There are a couple of watermills on the eastern part of the city, just outside of the northern walls. There are several roads within the town, but none of them has been properly paved yet. They show signs of planning, with roads clearly defined by the edges where any creeping undergrowth is swiftly trimmed or removed entirely, but in the end, these are still dirt roads.   Sewage is a bit of an issue currently, with only a few tunnels from a public bath having been made. The remainder of the sewer and drainage system has to be for now still manually handled.   The town possesses a growing shipyard where shipwrights are given the tasks of repairing the ships sailing down the Dessarin River. These are to the south, adjacent to the docks where transportation of goods and people happens.   Military wise, the settlement counts on a small mercenary detachment which has been paid to guard the perimeter and train a local militia. In total, the barracks serve to garrison around 20 people, though there is capacity for more.

Guilds and Factions

Due to its current nascent status there are not groups of note that have an established presence in the city, asides the ruling body of Mistpeak itself, directed by its Mayor.   By request of the Regent Mayor himself, the mercenary group Order of the Silverblades. has come to overlook the establishment of a local militia to ensure the independence and healthy growth of the town.

History

Mistpeak village is a settlement with very humble beginnings. It has only just recently been made by the initiative of a group of

Natural Resources

To the southwest, there are miles upon miles of rolling verdant fields which have been used by different hamlets along the Long Road. From these there are several natural resources which serve the village through the following:
  • Agriculture
  • Animal husbandry
  • Wine production
To the east there is a steady supply of activities being done in the edges of the nearby High Forest:
  • Hunting (Bringing in furs)
  • Foraging
  • Herbalism
There are rumours of abandoned mineshafts to the North in the Sumber Hills.
