The Prison of Moloch
It took us four weeks of spelunking and digging to reach what that Great Wyrm had been talking about. Just about buried ourselves every other blast cause the Wyrm was in one hells of a rush to get where she was going, but we got there in the end. Practically fell out of the tunnel into this massive cavern, as a matter of fact, when that plunger was pressed. I'm not sure I believed that dragon when she said that there was a massive city underground, but there it was, staring at me. The buildings were all taller, six or seven stories at the smallest, and even those barely peaked above the wall that surrounded the whole thing. There had to be near five miles between the cave wall we came out of and the closest point of the city wall, all empty. Just impossibly smooth stone. No life or any imperfection as far as the eye could see. At what had to be the center of the city we all could see the tower the dragon had been talking about, clear as day. It's bottom was obscured by the wall and the buildings within it, and it's top climbed far upwards and towards the ceiling, where it almost seemed to touch the caverns impossibly high roof. Even from there, and even with two hundred men that had made it down with is, I was sure we couldn't search the whole tower. It'd take it years, if not decades. We'd have to make the attempt, the dragon said time was of the essence and that we wouldn't get a second shot. None the less, I am going to send three runners to go back up to the surface and try and get any help they could. I'm certain I am simply sending whichever three to die, it's a gut feeling that getting out won't be so easy as getting in, but I must simply hold on to hope....For now, we descend into the~ Oh, hold on, it looks as if the dragons finished with whatever ritual she was doing. We go in now, but there's something the dragon isn't telling us. I took a look through a spyglass of mine and the city... it was writhing. Like every block was living. She seems just as concerned as the rest of us in that human form of hers and I'm starting to think that two-hundred men are not going to be enough. I'm going to send the Tarful brothers, all three of them, back to the surface with my journal here. My gut tells me that the information may be useful for whoever comes after us. There will be an after. The brothers were the youngest around, so I got them sent depite their protests. Hopefully, when they inevetable read this letter despite my orders, they will understand why I did so.
-From a letter found lying between three skeletons, each missing their head just inside the mouth of a cave in
Lebarallia.
Assumed to be an elaborate hoax due to the cave itself not containing any tunnel or passage.
The Prison of Moloch is a dead man's dream.
Every treasure hunter from here to Undabarii brings it up every other week, discussing the likelihood of Old Empire treasures being locked away in its vaults, and asserting that one day they'll find it and be the one to make it back. Then once the nights drinking is done, they trundle home and fall into bed shivering at the thought of having to put their boasting to the test.
There is an extensive history of false maps being made and diseminated by drunkards, conmen, and the occasional murderer. While many myths persist about true maps existing to this place that is not known to truly exist, it's generally so muddled now that no one can make heads or tails of what's true and what's not. One would have to simply choose something that 'felt' right and pray it was true. Not something that the average treasure hunter is willing to do, especially with the reputation that the Prison has.
The exact contents of the Prison is also a complete unknown, so the thoughts of what might lay within are complete suppostion. If the Prison of Moloch does exist, it could simply be empty.
