Garnet Town Gambit
Notes on the adventure, tailored for Tulcor's Savage Rifts world.
Components
Cruel Tricks
If the party sides with the Tolkeen Envoys, Symon will still go through with his demon summoning. In this case, however, he is trying to summon a smaller demon that he can control for the battle against the Brodkil (to make it look like he had nothing to do with the Brodkil's presence). However, the amount of Rift energy exceeds his sumoning circle's safety sigils, the party will see them spark and release too much light during the summoning. Then the Demon Lord comes through and commences trying to kill Symon so it can return.
Red Herrings
One of the town's Kovelins (Goblins) has gone missing as well. If the players do not find it the day it has gone missing, the other goblins go looking for it themselves. They never return.
All the missing kovelins are caught in a Faerie Ring, and will dance until they die. Just because the kovelins obey the rules of the town does not mean they aren't cruel to creatures less powerful than they. As a result, they have been catching and torturing faeries from The Pennywhistle Shenanigan. This is the faeries' vengeance upon them. (see Rift's Conversion Book p.100)
The kovelins are crying, exhausted, hungry and desparate for any help the players and the members of Rifthaven can provide.
If the players do manage to resolve this in a way that satisfies the Faeries, the faeries will volunteer information about the actual missing people, so its not a total red herring.
If the players rescue the goblins without satisfying the faeries, then the whole Pennywhistle Shenanigan will have a negative view of the party and the kovelins will be targeted again in the future, as will the rest of Rifthaven (if anyone from Rifthaven was along for the rescue). This could lead to further peace negotiations in the future.
Relations
Allies
The town of Rifthaven and its occupants takes the place of Garnet Town with the following edits:
- Note that an Elf of this world is different from that put forth in either the Palladium or the Pinnacle lore.
- Monx is the town's peacekeeper
- Quinn is the town's doctor, but for life-threatening illnesses and extreme trauma, they have to rely on the secretive Sheydor Enclave.
Competitors
The other people interested in Rifthaven are:
- Martha Washington and his team representing the interests of The Coalition States
- Kumi and Symon representing the interests of Tolkeen
- Republic of Ishpeming would take some action if the players think to involve them.
Adversaries
- The Robot Armor Pilot is Roger Strickland and he is piloting an AX-44 Bison Battler robot since Triax gear and equipment is not available in North America.
Backdrops
Locations
The location is the town of Rifthaven in The Free Lands. Rifthaven is just off what was once called the Fox River. (the river is unnamed in Rift's earth, so the players should feel free to name it if they desire)
