Mechanoid
Hailing from a far distant star and a far distant time, the mechanoids were once human. Now they are insane homicidal amalgamations of human and killing machine with the sole purpose to destroy all humans, human-like species and anyone who stands in their way. The mechanoids are a numberless, planet-eating, self-replicating plague wiping out entire star systems in its thirst for vengeance-spawned genocide.
Only a handful made it to Earth through a rift in space and time, a planet the species had long forgotten. If they were to ever communicate with the rest of the host, (if they haven't already) Earth's doom would be certain.

Anatomy
Any semblance of human identity has long since been eliminated, both psychologically and physically. All that remains inside these purpose built killing machines is a shapeless mass of flesh comprising the brains, central nervous system and some other necessary bits and bobs, all grafted into the machine.
The first mechanoids were peaceful explorers who voluntarily underwent the genetic and cybernetic process of becoming a mechanoid in order to survive the vigors of interplanetary space travel. Owing to the nature of near-light-speed travel, the human race on their home planet had advanced significantly by the time they returned to report their findings. Their home planet's new technological level had advanced so far as to make the Mechanoids obsolete. If that was all, they would have been able to deal with it. But humanity had evolved into a perverse version of itself, according to the mechanoids. Any race that would be willing to undergo the mechanoid conversion in the first place would certainly consider other steps in the intervening millenia between. And they did. The evolved Humanity now present on their home world viewed the explorers with revulsion and guilt and attempted to exterminate them all; out of mercy, some say. The mechanoids survived, and with the advanced technology now available to them, were able to turn the tables on their human exocutioners. What started as a struggle for survival turned into a complete genocide as the mechanoids continued to optimize themselves for combat survival rapidly churning out generation after generation. After hundreds of generations of darwinian evolution brought about through unrestricted warfare, the mechanics became the ultimate fighting force, without conscience without mercy, and without weakness. Any mechanoids who remained after wiping out those human systems had lost any semblance of compromise, empathy or understanding. That was when their crusade looked to other systems, hunting any other traces of humanity remaining anywhere in the universe.
The countless recursive cloning has resulted in nothing resembling a human any more, not even in its sanity, or insanity as the case has become.
